"The Quest to Fleece Evil"

Films: Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

Alias: Talos, the Harpies, the Hydra, Children of the Teeth

Type: Mystical

Location: Desert/Haunted Home/Cave

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of an average human to that of a skyscraper.

Affiliation: Neutral (Talos, the Hydra), Evil

Summary: Imagine for a moment that your entire life depends on an expensive throw-rug. Now how about said rug being guarded by some of the worst Greek myth has to offer? Sure, that rug could heal all wounds, but Jason isn't wanting to go on that quest against anytime soon.

History: Once the hide of a great winged ram before it became the constellation Aires, the Golden Fleece remained sacred on the island of Colchis, guarded by a seven-headed Hydra. But Jason, a man prophesized to usurp his crazy uncle Pelias, was dead set on getting that fleece. With his band of Argonauts, Jason would brave Talos, guardian of the Isle of Bronze, a flock of Harpies tormenting a blind king, and the forces of Colchis, including a skeleton army produced by planting the Hydra's teeth.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Talos gets his life-blood taken out via cork in the heel, the Harpies are imprisoned in cages, the Hydra gets a sword to the heart, and the Children of the Teeth plummet into the sea trying to stop Jason.

Powers/Abilities: Talos is almost completely indestructible.

Weakness: Talos' literal Achilles Heel is the cork on it that keeps his life-blood in place. Everyone else is by conventional means.

Scariness Factor: 4-This quest bites, for sure! Talos is just a jerky juggernaut no one should mess with, the hydra is everything you hated about snakes, and the Children of the Teeth are some of the most complex things Ray Harryhausen ever made. And they emit that horrid battle screech, too.

Trivia: -The Argonauts' name means "Argo sailor", based on their signature ship, the Argo.

-This film is based on "Argonautica", the only surviving Hellenistic (time between Alexander the Great and the Roman Empire's rise) epic around.

Golden Talos: The ultimate final form!

Their lives might as well end here.

Attack on Talos...as well as everything else.

Hercules couldn't have never been more useful at a time like this.

This would probably be the moment when Talos could just end the film with a toss of the ship.

A beheading would have been fine, but humilation works.

"NO, we will not sing the Spooky Skeletons song. Stop asking."
